We love plants.

That probably goes without saying. Chris is the owner of The Catalina Plant Co. and has always loved plants and watching them thrive, or figuring out how to make them thrive. He has lived all over the U.S. and spent a lengthy stint on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands and fell in love with tropical plants (where the indoor plants, grow outside).

Chris was on a trip to Santa Catalina Island a few years back with his family and loved learning more about the island and experiencing its diverse landscape. Catalina island is a rocky island off the coast of Los Angelos with a Mediterranean type climate - Good weather, palm trees, cactus, and just about everything that wont make it through Chicago winters.

In 1919 William Wrigley, Jr (Wrigley Gum/Wrigley Field) bought out almost every share of The Catalina Island Company, giving him control of the island. The Island was used by the Chicago Cubs from 1921-1951 for spring training. This tie to Chicago was the inspiration for the name (The Catalina Plant Company).

Chris lives in Jefferson park with his family and enjoys teaching his two young sons more about plants, nature, and traveling.
